Math

Every day we do a number of the day paper. This is an example of the number 31.
We will spend this week mastering what we have learned about addition and relating it to subtraction. I will give a little test to see what you know about upcoming units so I know what we will work on next.

Here is a good math website I found:

Spelling

We will learn these 5 new words this week:

because, was, made, little, played

Also, don't forget these words we already learned:

children, each, girl, I, today, make, name, line, stop, more, ride, people, green, caught, to wanted, about,
few, too, kicked

Practice making transfer words at home. If you can spell "made" then you can spell "trade".

We will also be working on adding the inflectional ending -ed like in our word "played"

Language Arts

For reading this week we will be working on a story called "Henry and Mudge Under the Yellow Moon". Read it on pages 84-93. It is an example of realistic fiction. You need to understand that events in this type of story could really happen.

R.A.H. (Read At Home!)

In our writing journals, the children were asked to write a story about something of their choice.  Encouraging them to use the writing sandwich approach, they are showing their knowledge of how to write topic sentences and details.  A few students volunteered to read aloud their stories...

Here is Caylee sharing what she wrote.
Mallory likes to share her journal also.
